Terje Vigtel

Terje Vigtel is a Norwegian diplomat with long experience in international development and bilateral aid. He has worked with development of business cooperation between Norway and African countries, international trade policy and effectiveness of development cooperation. He also has many years of experience in management of international development aid.

Vigtel has held several senior positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Directorate of Development Cooperation (NORAD). He is a former ambassador to Zambia where he served for 6 years. Moreover, has he led the Norwegian Peace Corps and been the NORAD resident representative in Botswana. At NORADs headquarter in Oslo, he has held several management positions, including Director of Department for Civil Society and Director of the Finance and Administration Department.

Vigtel is the deputy chairman of the Board of Fairtrade Norway, board member of director of PLAN International in Norway and member of the think- tank Civitas development police advisory group. Vigtel is also active as a writer and runs one of the most read Norwegian blogs on development policy and African politics called "Politics of Africa".
